Apparently his album with Timbaland convinced Chris Cornell to reunite with his Seattle supergroup Soundgarden. The band -which rose to prominence in the 90's along with other grunge pioneers as Nirvana, Alice In Chains, and Pearl Jam - will reunite for a summer tour ... Will one of their stops be Summerfest? I am assuming that will be the case, and it will probably be the Big Gig's only signing of an "alternative" band this summer ... I am also guessing that they will headline one of the
As you all are well aware, Tim McGraw has already been booked as a headliner for the Big Gig 2010 ... When I read this in the newspaper several weeks ago I let out an agitated shout and smacked my forehead in disbelief ... We have barely shaken off the bad memories of Bummerfest 2009 (except for mmathu: he still dreams of watching teen boys at the Spoon show) and already next year's version has shown itself to be a trainwreck in the making ... Yet why am I surprised by this booking? If it
What do you fellows think about this: is the compact disc on life support? ... When was the last time you purchased a CD? I for one prefer the format; I am also computer illiterate so I wouldn't know how to download my own ass to save my life ... But I believe that downloading is going to put the CD out to pasture. Pretty soon places like Best Buy, the Exclusive Company, Barnes and Noble, and Targets, Walmarts, etc will likely whittle down to barely zippo in terms of CD sales ... Too bad. I like

Well, I attended my second Chicago Lollapalooza festival last week. Last summer was heaven on earth for me: the weather was perfect, the acts amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better experience ... In fact I have to admit I got misty eyed on the ride home. I enjoyed Lolla 2008 so much I didn't want it to end ... This year? Ummmm ... First off the
Another Summerfest is over and done/Hope you all had your fun/Drinking and dancing and singing with friends/But for now the year's biggest party must end ... The festground is littered with paper and cups/Discarded food for seagulls to pick up/The vendors have each gone away/Waiting til next year and those 11 days ... The Marcus is empty/the side stages are bare/Milwaukeeans are now focused/on the Wisconsin State Fair ... Their music lineup's better/Than the Big Gig this year/But the drunken
The Cascio Interstate Groove Garage is indeed a groovy place to hang out at The Big Gig. Last year the Groove Garage was a hidden treasure, but now it’s sandwiched between the Briggs Backyard and the Harley Roadhouse. They feature some incredibly hot up-and-coming local bands, and among the coolest I’ve seen so far were BSG, The Invaders and Soup. One of the fun things about this stage is the musicians are accessible and generally eager to meet the fans. Elliot Hill, ably assisted by ...
