RIP CD?

What do you fellows think about this: is the compact disc on life support?

When was the last time you purchased a CD? I for one prefer the format; I am also computer illiterate so I wouldn't know how to download my own ass to save my life.

But I believe that downloading is going to put the CD out to pasture. Pretty soon places like Best Buy, the Exclusive Company, Barnes and Noble, and Targets, Walmarts, etc will likely whittle down to barely zippo in terms of CD sales.

Too bad. I like the physical product, the booklet, the lyrics, photos, etc. But I think it is on the way to the grave, alongside laser discs.

Then again, vinyl is making a comeback of sorts, so who knows? What's your opinion?
